Side by Side Cymru works “side by side” with community leaders and groups. This project focuses on providing free coaching in peer support, networking and workshop events. We support group leaders in learning how to facilitate and improve the benefits of peer support for their groups.
Peer support is when people use their own experiences to help each other. This can be through a group, one to one or online and may involve activities such as crafts, walking or meeting for coffee.

Side by Side Cymru hosts the West Wales Peer Support Network which currently has 100+ members who between them support up to 3000 people. Members include walking clubs, arts and crafts, befriending circles, swimming clubs and mental health diagnosis support groups. To date over 300 individuals have attended our peer support events taking place in Cardigan, Lampeter, Aberaeron, Borth, Llanarth, Gorsgoch, Aberporth, Newquay, Llanarth, Aberystwyth, Haverfordwest, Tenby, Letterston, Milford Haven, Saundersfoot and Llanelli.
“The workshop was extremely enjoyable and filled with useful information. The trainer was engaging and I really enjoyed the opportunity to network.”
Community Group Leader, Aberystwyth

“If you want to know how to set up your own group, Side by Side can offer you support and guidance.”
