Huw and TJ’s Coastal Walk

Huw and TJ’s coastal walk.

A senior-chef for Royalty, Huw Jones, originally from Gwynedd is raising money for Local Minds in West Wales by doing an extraordinary coastal walk from Machynlleth to Llanelli. He has already completed a 313-mile-long coastal path walk from and around Anglesey to Tywyn, Gwynedd raising money for Ynys Mon and Gwynedd Mind.

Huw, has spoken openly about his experience of mental-health problems and how he has benefitted from mental health services in Wales, and in particular services provided by local Minds. After already completing his first challenge in North Wales, he then decided to continue on his journey south and will raise funds for Mind Aberystwyth, Mind Pembrokeshire, Mind Carmarthen and Llanelli Mind. The total distance of the journey is 305 miles and Huw aims to finish by the 20th of June.

He will be taking on this challenge with the aims of raising awareness of mental health problems and tackling the stigma and discrimination that surround them, “I hope to do my very best to show people with depression never to give up” and would also like to raise funds for Local Minds in West Wales.

Huw will be starting the walk on Saturday the 28th May, leaving Machynlleth and will hope to arrive at Cardigan on Wednesday the 1st of June. Mind Aberystwyth will provide moral support and supplies for Huw and will keep our Facebook page updated with his progress. He will then continue on to Pembrokeshire and Mind Pembrokeshire will support him from then onwards.
