SIDE BY SIDE CYMRU PEER SUPPORT EVENT

WEDNESDAY 12th FEBRUARY – LETTERSTON

If you are a volunteer member of a community group, or a volunteer who wishes to set up a group, come along to the Letterston Memorial Hall, Station Road, Letterson, Pembrokeshire and find out about Side by Side Cymru, how to access free networking and training and how to apply for up to £250 in grant funding (subject to availability).  Commencing at 10.00am and finishing at 12.30m

Peer support is when people use their own experiences to help each other.  This can be through a group, one to one or online and may involve activities such as crafts, walking or meeting for coffee.  The Side by Side Cymru peer support network in West Wales currently has over 80 member organisations and has awarded over £10,000 in small grant funding.

This event will include what Side for Side Cymru can do for you and your group: what peer support is and what the benefits are; how to apply for a grant; and how to set up and run a community group.  Two and a half hours to include registration, networking with other groups, workshop activities and refreshments. Each community group attending will receive a free copy of Mind’s Developing Peer Support Development in the Community Toolkit and each individual a Certificate of Attendance.

Guest speaker will be Julie Campbell, Community Connector for North Pembrokeshire.  Julie will be speaking on the Community Connector project and other support available from Pembrokeshire Association of Voluntary Services (PAVS).

Previous peer support event attendees have said :”Very much made me think about what I do and how I can do it better”, “the whole talk was informative and great tips to break the ice with new people coming to the club”, and “engaging, variety of information and topics”.

The Letterson Memorial Hall has wheelchair access and an accessible toilet.  On site car parking.  Individuals and groups new to the West Wales peer support network will be asked to join the network at registration.
