We’re here to make sure anyone who has a mental health problem has somewhere to turn for advice and support. We provide advice, information, support, and develop services for people affected by mental distress   Mind Aberystwyth runs therapeutic groups and wellbeing activities with the aim of providing an inclusive and supportive environment to those who attend, assisting individuals in the development of skills & qualifications, building relationships & confidence, encouraging community participation and ultimately helping service users to achieve and maintain good mental health.

Women’s Craft Group facilitator:

Mind Aberystwyth is looking for a volunteer to facilitate our new peer-led support group for females; with a focus on craft and textiles.   The group will run on Monday afternoons.  

Mind Aberystwyth could not realise its mission without volunteers. Volunteers play an integral part in the success of our service delivery and impact on the lives of our service users.

Key Roles & Responsibilities
1) To provide a presence among service users.
2) Engaging in craft activities and providing practical input to service users.
3) Meeting & greeting.
4) Providing relevant information to newcomers.
5) Maintaining a positive and welcoming environment.
6) Monitoring conversation and interaction between service users.
7) Maintain a clean, tidy, safe and organised environment.
8) Serving refreshments.
9) Provide company to service users. If any service user is looking lost or alone, please make it your business to speak to them or pass it on to a member of staff
10) To maintain confidentiality
Ideal Candidate  
Our ideal volunteer would be a hardworking, enthusiastic and compassionate person with an interest in craft and supporting women. Reliability and confidentiality is essential.
Training and support will be provided to volunteers by paid staff.

Volunteer:

Mind Aberystwyth is looking to recruit volunteers to assist in the delivery of our activity and wellbeing services.

Art and creative expression is helpful to healthy human development and recovery from mental distress. Our art group welcomes individuals of mixed ability to create work in a peaceful and friendly environment.
 
Creative Hub is an arts-based group run by Adult Learning Wales that enables service users to gain creative qualifications in an accessible and supportive environment.
 
Connecting with nature can have lots of positive health benefits (both mentally and physically). Our woodlands group is an ecotherapy-based group that enables service users to access various woodlands and engage in different activities throughout Ceredigion. The group aims to create a healthy and active atmosphere to improve physical, mental and social wellbeing through outdoor woodland activity.
 
Peer support can help people to take huge strides forward in recovery from mental health distress. Our social group enables service users to access support & signposting, connect with others, build friendships and receive advice on engagement with mental health services.
